There is something in the air. When you turn on the TV you hear about it, businesses are capitalizing on it, the population is being moved by it. It comes round once a year and never fails to fizzle. That would be New Years fever. Ever caught it yourself? It is kind of hard not to. Media platforms are swirling with Inspirational quotes, health tips and a focus on change and I have to admit I am feeling a little feverish. I can not tell if my diagnosis is a result to the madness of the holidays slowing down, or potentially due to my completion of a 12 week intensive self development program through the Upper Room or if the blessing of coming into the new year is highlighting what was of 2017 and what is on my heart for 2018.
In this very moment the atmosphere around me is peaceful and independent. I watched the sun come up over the horizon, to then pour it’s warm light over my ocean view in San Clemente California. I have spent the morning in 2 Timothy processing what is on my horizon.
In 2014 Art of Style was launched. As a 23 year old, WOAH baby was there ever a lot of lessons to be learned. Now as a ripe 26 year old, I realize I still have years of experience and wisdom ahead, yet these last 3 years as an independent business owner in my 20s has brought me a plethora of lessons and growth. My day to day is at my mercy. I live my life in control of each day. I shop almost every day for clients. A personal shopper that is. A master of unlayering whom one is, understanding their day to day life and then curating a wardrobe to best support that life. Even upon entering the fashion industry less than 10 years ago (including pre Art of Style days) the industry has drastically changed. Although I spend my days with massive amounts of clothes, I generally feel more like a matchmaker. Learning about my client, to then clothe them in their perfect suit of armor. Totally bazaar, it is extremely hard for me to describe, yet my passion for personal styling runs through my veins. Due to the light heartedness of my career, I have been sharing my chuckle worthy moments via Instagram Stories over the years, but blogging, no thank you. Fear, stubbornness, comparison, all stood in the way of when broken down, blogging is merely a platform to share experience and wisdom.
So this my friend is a long winded way to say YOU ARE INVITED to this very rare life I have fearlessly chosen to say yes to. Pushing myself to work harder each day. Say yes to new things. Experience change where I can. Always keep my focus on the true creator.
What to expect at this party??
I intend to of course share my love of fashion. Not on a platform to be carbon copied, but to share with all what really speaks to me. What is worthy of investment. How to build a wardrobe. Funky fun ways to develop your personal style. Stores and brands I discover that are worthy of sharing. I hope to guide your wardrobe journey and inspire your personal style!
Personal Styling may be the language of my gifts, but I am excited to share my experiences of running a small business. There is loads I look forward to sharing about this from past experiences and as Art of Style continues to grow. Can you imagine if we all truly lived and worked in our gifts. I am curious what has been entrusted to you? What is unique about making your heart tick? What do you see in a way that would change perspective for others on the subject? I hope this platform creates a community to discover, develop and strength unique gifts.
And last, yet certainly not least, the art of recharging. Every person’s tank is filled in their own way. Me, I love the outdoors. I love experiencing new cultures. When your world is spinning and you are continuously in motion for someone else, it is a discipline to sit and rest. To take time to do what you love. Recognizing that those things are just as valuable in your life and actually carving time for them, will make your time of performance that much stronger.
